There are videos, blogs and even books about how to optimize your play while spinning reels, but do they actually work? We’ve tested a few techniques and it all points out they don’t really. And here’s why.

Strategies are good when there is an element of skill involved in the game. Since slot machines is just the waiting-out of a random result it is quite improbable to create a technique that will help you win. Even if you think you can penetrate the machinery of slots and somehow discover a flaw there, we’re here to tell you that there’s no royal road to a jackpot. Slots are random to such a point that the fastest computers couldn’t even foretell what will be the next result.

One of the classic techniques or strategies for slots is the so-call Slot Martingale. This can be the most ambiguous strategy since it was originally devised for quick turning games like Roulette or Blackjack. The technique states that you must double your bet if you don’t win your last bet. Keep doubling the bet until you win and then return to the original bet. With slots, you can keep increasing your bet so much that by the time you could actually hit something, you’d be broke. So some smart people started modifying and “selling” the idea that you must not double your bet each time but slowly increase it, as in twenty cents per bet until you win. With slots, especial video slot, you cannot increase your bet uniformly as a 20 line machine will surely suck your money when you turn from the penny denomination to a nickel or from a dime to a quarter. The Martigale Strategy for slots is very flawed and deceiving, it doesn’t guarantee any higher yielding payout that just normal random play.

Another technique consists of spinning the reels in low denomination and then raising your bet for a few spins to see if you can get a bonus round or set of free spins with the higher denomination. But since there is no way of predicting how many spins it will take between one bonus round and the next, this strategy is also flawed.

We’ll say it again, there’s not royal road to a big bankroll. It’s all chance and that’s how it’s always been.

As you may know the law that George Bush junior passed in 2006 against online gambling is about to come into full effect this December 1st. Does this mean that US players can no longer play online slots for real money?

No, this is not technically true. The law that Bush’s administration passed is not aimed against individual gamblers. It is targeted to those large companies that provide the financial services for players to deposits and withdraw from a gambling site. So, technically, you are in no danger to continue playing your favorite online slots.

Some are wondering if this law will stop all the available methods for US players to deposit and cash out? It is hard to say at this point. Obviously if these fail then gambling online is over for US players. But there is hope. Most of these companies moved offshore once the Gambling Ban law was passed. Since they are outside the US then the law does not apply to them and they can continue doing business as usual. The Gambling Ban law was ill-conceived they said because it has no power to stop wagers from taking place over the internet.

So, where can US players spin some reels? Currently there are only a few platforms left that accept US players. Last year Microgaming left the US market leaving a wide open field for lesser known companies to emerge. Luckily these new companies like Rival-Gaming and Top-Game have proven to be equally as professional as Microgaming. Rival slots are now considered probably the best slot machines on the internet.

So US players are and will continue to be accepted at Rival casinos. Here they will be able to deposit safely and confidentially, and when the good times roll, they are able to cash out with convenient methods.

Gambling online for US players just had a scare but such a big industry is very unlikely to go under because of a law that doesn’t really affect the way the business works.

We share this week the story of one of our readers. He decided to share his experience when playing slots and something truly unbelievable that happened to him. The reader’s alias is “Jackpot Hunter 777”.

I want to share a very interesting experience I had when I spun some reels last week. I was playing at one of the big online casinos. I won’t say the name just to keep this story anonymous. I normally play small, around 20 cents a spin. My first pick for each session is the video slot since I have a good chance of getting a bonus round and raise my balance. If I do hit a bonus round and win some, then I’ll turn to 3-reel slots to try and hit the top max bet jackpot.

Well, last week I started doing just that. At first I wasn’t getting anything out of my $50 deposit. I didn’t claim a bonus since I like to withdraw as soon as I win and don’t want to get tangled up with wagering requirements. I was down to under $5. I kept spinning without much luck until I reach the bonus round, when I was just over $1. I performed decently during the bonus round and thought I would get a normal $20 to $50 payout. To my surprised I returned to the slot with $30,000!! I had to rub my eyes and pinch my arm to see what had happened. I was playing with $0.20 and hit $30,000… it couldn’t be.

So, right after that I contacted the casino, out of good will, to see why I had won so much. Not so much to my surprise I found out that there had been a glitch and the due jackpot was supposed to be $120 for the way I performed during the bonus round. I never actually made it my assumption that I had just won $30,000 to keep. But you won’t guess it, the casino decided to reward me for my honesty and said that they will leave half of the money won in my account. So now I have over $15,000 at my account thanks to my (dumb) sincerity. The casino said that had I not said anything, and if they would have found out of the error, that they would have denied all my winnings as stated in their terms and conditions.

That’s my story. Just wanted to share the unbelievable events that took place last week in my life. Hope you enjoyed!

- Thanks for sharing Jackpot Hunter, it sure was a curious outcome you had there!
