Play online slots moderately January 21st, 2010

In this day and age when all we do is work and toil for a minimum wage, it is no surprise that we look for means of escape such as TV, movies, going out or… yes, even playing online slots.

The tedium that comes from repeating day in and day out the same activity is overwhelming and sometimes all we need is a moment to feel effortlessly idle. The mass of entertainment nowadays attests to this fact. Playing online slots is definitely a simple way for us to sit back and relax. Not much is required from us. Put in some of the money we earned during the week, spin some reels and wait for bells to go off (which often don’t). Precisely this last part of the bells not going off often is the reason we should be careful of not falling into the inertia of playing too much online. Oftentimes players will lose their shirt and tie playing at online casinos. Casinos simply have it too easy for them, the odds are in favor and we’re battling here to get scraps of the winnings they actually give out.

Playing online slots should be an occasional activity to distract oneself from the burdens of life. It should not become a way of life or it will become a problem rather than a relief. Play slots with moderation, within a budget and never with the compulsion of becoming a millionaire over night. The slot games are fun but can turn against you if you drop your guard and find yourself hooked on them.

If you have a hard time stopping your gambling, the easiest way out is to find a new distraction, a new hobby, a new source of entertainment. Remember that you are probably just looking for a way to relax in life. There are millions of ways to do this. If playing slots is a source of anxiety and not of relaxation, then it’s time to move on, buddy.

We share this week the story of one of our readers. He decided to share his experience when playing slots and something truly unbelievable that happened to him. The reader’s alias is “Jackpot Hunter 777”.

I want to share a very interesting experience I had when I spun some reels last week. I was playing at one of the big online casinos. I won’t say the name just to keep this story anonymous. I normally play small, around 20 cents a spin. My first pick for each session is the video slot since I have a good chance of getting a bonus round and raise my balance. If I do hit a bonus round and win some, then I’ll turn to 3-reel slots to try and hit the top max bet jackpot.

Well, last week I started doing just that. At first I wasn’t getting anything out of my $50 deposit. I didn’t claim a bonus since I like to withdraw as soon as I win and don’t want to get tangled up with wagering requirements. I was down to under $5. I kept spinning without much luck until I reach the bonus round, when I was just over $1. I performed decently during the bonus round and thought I would get a normal $20 to $50 payout. To my surprised I returned to the slot with $30,000!! I had to rub my eyes and pinch my arm to see what had happened. I was playing with $0.20 and hit $30,000… it couldn’t be.

So, right after that I contacted the casino, out of good will, to see why I had won so much. Not so much to my surprise I found out that there had been a glitch and the due jackpot was supposed to be $120 for the way I performed during the bonus round. I never actually made it my assumption that I had just won $30,000 to keep. But you won’t guess it, the casino decided to reward me for my honesty and said that they will leave half of the money won in my account. So now I have over $15,000 at my account thanks to my (dumb) sincerity. The casino said that had I not said anything, and if they would have found out of the error, that they would have denied all my winnings as stated in their terms and conditions.

That’s my story. Just wanted to share the unbelievable events that took place last week in my life. Hope you enjoyed!

- Thanks for sharing Jackpot Hunter, it sure was a curious outcome you had there!

Playing online slots machines for free can be a lot of fun but there are some facts that you need to know before you even start playing online slots. If we understand how something works then maybe we can start to really tell apart online slot myths from facts. Today, I want to talk a little bit about the famous RNG or Random Number Generator.

What is RNG? The Random Number Generator is a feature or electronic chip that calculates the winning combinations on the reels of a slot machine at a rate of around a hundred per second. The RNG’s main function is to make sure that the outcome of a spin of the reels depends entirely on chance. An RNG chip is incorporated into each slot machine’s software in order to guarantee an honest and fair game for the player.
Random Number Generators are widely used not only in the online gaming world or online slot machine games but also in high-tech security systems. So how do they truly work? Well, one of the most important things to remember is that for online slot machines, the Random Number Generators will produce between 0 to 4 billion random numbers and each one of those number is linked to a specific slot feature or icon. Once you have made your bet and spun the reels, the RNG will create an algorithm that will decide the outcome of your spin.

The RNG program is able to attach the winning number to several reel combinations which decreases the chance of determining the possible winning combinations. This sequence of events is the result of dividing the random generated number by 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, or 512.Once the number generated has been divided by one of these numbers the resulting value represents the “stop number.”

One important thing to keep in mind is that the payout percentage is set by the operator of the casino and not the Random Number Generator software. Even though land based and online casino slot games both used Random Number Generator softwares, online slots players have a fantastic advantage because payouts in the online world are much higher since online casinos have less costs than their land-based competitors.
